August 30th, 2008 - Jay and Laura's Wedding

Jay and Laura got married yesterday. It was a beautiful, warm, sunny day in Southern California. I had the privilege of being one (of the many) groomsmen. A few funny moments from the day.

1. As gift for the Groomsmen, Jay bought various bottles of cologne, one of which was David Beckham Instinct. Needless to say that was the highlight of Micah's day.

2. The flowers not showing up until a few minutes after the ceremony was supposed to start. I think we started almost half an hour late.

3. Jay doing a fist pump after kissing Laura. They are definitely very cool and laid back people who just love to have fun.

4. One of the bridesmaids was not feeling well standing up, so during the ceremony she had to go sit down, which meant Alvin and Kumar had to walk down the aisle together without a bridesmaid. (they actually walked one in front of the other, but we'll always remember it as them walking hand in hand)

5. During the photos with the groomsmen, Jay thought it would be a great idea to fun full speed towards the camera. We found a little hill and got some shots. Unfortunately on our second "run" Jay totally ate it going down the hill. This was after we explicitly told him, "Jay, don't get hurt running down the hill." His only thought was, "Oh no! My tux is going to get jacked!"

6. At the reception - In the middle of the first dance, the music changed and Jay and Laura broke out into a whole dance routine that they had practiced. It was pretty awesome.

5. Being gathered with friends to celebrate such a joyful occasion. It was great seeing people I hadn't seen in many years and catching up with them.

Here are some pics from the wedding

And....I finally got a pic with me and Christie. Now we're friends!

Saving Randall II

Randall bought a Triumph motorcycle earlier this year. It's a really sweet, mean looking bike. He decided to ride up to Norcal a few months ago and on his way back, about halfway between SF and LA his bike broke down (pretty much an exit outside of Kettleman City). This happened around 3 pm. I get a text from him telling me that his bike broke down. So, after work I head home and grab my brother and my roommate's tie-downs, drive to pick up his gf Joyce and his brother's truck and make the 4 hour trek up. We get to him around 1030 and after finding the bike, loading it up, and getting gas we started heading back around midnight. I got home around 5 and was at work the next day at 8.

.....Today Randall was on his bike to get to Jay's bachelor party. Afterwards he rode to my house where we hung out for a little while. He took off around 5 to go home. I get a call from him a few minutes later and when I pick up I hear a lot of cars in the background. He simply says "Hey Ken, guess what happened?" Needless to say he was on the side of the freeway with his bike broken down. So, of course I was off to the rescue again. Luckily it wasn't a huge problem and we were able to get it working and (i think) he made it home. My adventures with Randall

Epic Meeting

Started in the Fall of 2001 with Me, Jay and Alvin...after a few months Ivan came on board. When Alvin graduated and moved to Philly Micah was added. We've been a group of 5 for over 4 years now. Until yesterday we had never met as a group of 5. One of us has been gone each time....either abroad or at school...Yesterday was the epic day...Meeting up at the place of our birth...Pho 54. The first to arrive was Jay Lee followed by myself, Ivan and then Micah. We were sure something horrible was going to happen to Alvin to keep our streak of never meeting as a whole group. Of course we were disappointed and Alvin came rolling up a few minutes later. It will definitely be awhile until we can meet up as a whole group again since Ivan goes back to China next week and Alvin back to Boston in October. But it happened....

Siccee Visits

Ivan came home for a week for Jay's wedding. Jay, him and myself went out to the beach last night. I guess he misses having the pacific ocean on the west coast! Then we went to eat some Peruvian food. A bit pricey, but still a very good meal. I think it was worth it. The restaurant was surprisingly empty though. I hope they don't flop. The food is too tasty.
